Albert E Knittle

Albert E. Knittle, 88, formerly of Bastian Road, Kutztown (Maxatawny Township), died Friday, April 14, 2006, in Kutztown Manor, Kutztown, where he had been a resident since February 21, 2006. He was the husband of the late Helen M. (Lyons) Knittle who died on January 13, 1991.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene A. and the late Kate L. (Mertz) Knittle. He was a foreman at East Penn Manufacturing, Lyon Station, for 15 years retiring in 1982. From 1982 to 1989 he was a part time bus driver and refrigeration mechanic for Carl R. Bieber Tourways, Inc., Kutztown. From the 1940’s to the 1980’s he was a self employed farmer. He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Zion Union Church, Maxatawny.

He is survived by Daughters, Mary E. (Knittle) Zimmerman, Mertztown (Rockland Township), Kathryn L. (Knittle) Rumpf, West Lawn, Nancy M. (Knittle) Heckman, Blandon; Sons, LeRoy C. Knittle, Allentown, Donald E. Knittle, Lyon Station; 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Maxatawny. Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
