Mr. Albert E. Hertzog

June 6, 1936 — December 10, 2020

Albert E. Hertzog, 84, a lifelong resident of Dryville, Rockland Township, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 10, 2020 in his residence.

Albert was born on the family farm on Fredericksville Road in Dryville, the second youngest of seven children of the late Jacob W. Hertzog and Beulah K. (Beitler) Hertzog. He was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Dryville and attended Kutztown Area High School.

Albert worked at the former Wenton Shoe Factory, Kutztown, and later for Eastern Industries, Inc., where he operated their asphalt plant and a front-end loader. He also helped with the family farm and supported and took care of his parents in their later years.

Albert was a member of and patronized many rod and gun and American Legion clubs in the area where he enjoyed socializing with his friends. He was an enthusiastic hunter, deep sea fisherman and NASCAR fan. Albert also enjoyed taking bus tour trips, going to his hunting camp in Potter County, and visiting NASCAR speedways.

Albert is survived by his brother Larry R. Hertzog, husband to Sue (Boyer) Hertzog, and by his nieces and nephews and their children. In addition to his parents, Albert was predeceased by his brothers Roy B. Hertzog and Gene B. Hertzog and sisters, Elsie B. (Hertzog) Pavel, Mary B. (Hertzog) Leutloff and Grace B. (Hertzog) Hemerly.

A memorial service to celebrate and honor Albert’s life will be held at a later date.
